The 2025 NHL Winter Classic between Blackhawks and Blues could be postponed to a new date

Weather conditions for the 2025 NHL Winter Classic do not currently look ideal, meaning there is a chance the game could be postponed to a new date.

The Chicago Blackhawks are no strangers to outdoor games, having faced the Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues in previous meetings.

This time around, the Blackhawks will renew that rivalry with the Blues at Wrigley Field after their 2017 meeting at Busch Stadium. The Blackhawks lost this game 4-1 to Alex Pietrangelo and the Blues in a very heated affair.

The Blackhawks last played on January 2, 2017 against the St. Louis Blues. Seven years ago, Jonathan Toews and Alex Pietrangelo were the captains of their respective teams and a year later, the Blues were on their way to winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 2018.

But could winter weather disrupt another classic clash between these rivals, whose history dates back to 1967?

According to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times, the forecast for hockey is less than ideal, with the possibility of snow and even rain threatening the event.
