Pedri’s efforts on the pitch against Atletico Madrid went unrewarded as Barcelona failed to secure a much-needed victory.

After scoring his fourth goal of the season, he distinguished himself as the league leader Blaugrana for the entire 90 minutes.

His performance earned him the game’s MVP award, but even his determination and creativity were not enough to prevent the team from losing a point. Alexander Sorloth scored in stoppage time and secured a draw for the guests.

After the game, Pedri said that Barcelona had several chances to decide the game, but their inefficiency in front of goal ultimately cost them.

Pedri expressed his frustration at the team’s lack of determination in attack as chances to win were missed.

“To be honest, it is a very difficult defeat. I think we had chances to finish the game and if you don’t, whatever happens.” he said, quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Players like Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski missed crucial chances to score, and Pedri himself admitted his own chance required more composure and precision.

“I think Raphinha had two, Robert another and I missed an opportunity that required calm and determination. Anyone who doesn’t take advantage of their chances in football loses.”

If a team fails to capitalize on their chances, the risk of conceding a goal on the counterattack increases – a scenario that played out again for Barcelona in the final moments of the game.

“In the end they caught us on the counterattack and in the end we have to be more ready and not give ourselves away so much.” he explained.

This result marks Barça’s third consecutive defeat at the Estadi Olímpic, a worrying trend that the team urgently needs to address by 2025.

A home defeat should be an anomaly for a club of Barcelona’s stature, but recent problems have exposed weaknesses that opponents are increasingly exploiting.

“It’s difficult, especially because it should be a lot harder to beat us at home and that’s not happening.”

As the team heads into a much-needed break, the focus will be on mental and physical recovery. The players and coaching staff need to rethink their approach, especially at home where Barcelona are likely to be far more dominant.

“We have to improve a lot, we have to use the break that is coming now to restart mentally and physically and give everything to try not to lose a game and hope that the others fail.” he added.

Barcelona’s season has reached a critical point and the break offers an opportunity to reflect, recover and prepare to regain momentum for the future.
