Czech linemates David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha each scored a goal and combined for seven points as the Boston Bruins defeated the host Vancouver Canucks 5-1 on Saturday night.

Pastrnak (one goal, three assists) became the 11th player in Bruins history to reach 400 career assists after contributing to the team’s first three goals before scoring 26 seconds into the third period achieved.

Zacha (one goal, two assists) and Morgan Geekie (one goal, one assist) also scored multiple points, while Brad Marchand and Marc McLaughlin added goals for Boston, which has won five of seven despite going 0-2 in its five games -0 started. Game road trip.

The Bruins led 2-0 at halftime and 4-0 through goaltender Jeremy Swayman (19 saves).

For Vancouver, which has won just one of its last four games (1-2-1), Max Sasson scored his first NHL goal and Thatcher Demko made 23 saves in his second start back from a knee injury.

The Bruins came away with flying colors in the first, scoring the game’s first power play en route to a 16-4 advantage in shots – including an 11-1 start – and a 2-0 lead.

Marchand lit the lamp first at 5:12 and completed a great puck move on the power play, sending Elias Lindholm a pass across the goal line to finish in the right crease.

Geekie made it 2-0 when Pastrnak sent him into the slot with a pass from the backboard at 8:08.

Boston scored its first shot at midfield just 1:12 minutes later, when a faceoff win led to Pastrnak sending Zacha across the slot to switch backhand to forehand to make the score 3-0.

Midway through the game, Vancouver finally found some impetus when Swayman made one of his best stops between the circles after a one-timer from Conor Garland.

Boston quickly regained momentum and extended its lead. At 11:49 a.m., McLaughlin scored his first goal of the season, spinning in the high slot and firing a shot that deflected off a defender and went five holes past Demko.

Swayman kept a clean sheet in two periods, thanks largely to a save from Kiefer Sherwood on the rebound with 7:00 left.

The Bruins needed just 26 seconds in the third period to score their fifth goal when Charlie McAvoy fed Pastrnak to drive up the wing and score a wraparound. It would have been 6-0 if Demko hadn’t stopped Cole Koepke’s collapse at 2:00.

A failed clearance allowed Vancouver to break the shutout when JT Miller set up Sasson’s assist for the goal with 9:47 left.
