Kelce’s touchdown, which came early in the fourth quarter, essentially put the game away and also benefited from Kansas City’s second takeaway of the game – a forced fumble by cornerback Trent McDuffie – marking McDuffie’s third straight game with a forced turnover.

Overall, the Chiefs’ defense – despite being without the services of defensive tackle Chris Jones, who missed Wednesday with a calf injury – set a season high with five sacks and two takeaways. This all contributed to Kansas City holding Pittsburgh to its lowest point total of the season, which included just three points in the second half.

Additionally, Wednesday’s win ended a grueling stretch of three games in 11 days in which Kansas City forced a whopping 10 turnovers on defense and special teams while allowing no turnovers on offense (and allowing just one sack).

In short, it’s clear that Kansas City is playing its best football of the season at the perfect time.

“We feel like we can always get better, but obviously, especially offensively, we’re playing our best football at the end of the year,” Mahomes said. “We’re getting the boys healthy. We are excited. We will continue working. This is not the end. This is just the beginning. We will continue to work to be even better as we head into the playoffs.”

As for injuries, Isiah Pacheco (ribs) had to leave Wednesday’s game early.

The Chiefs now have a little more free time before they end the regular season against the Denver Broncos.
