The Detroit Red Wings fall to the Colorado Avalanche as losses and frustration mount

Detroit – Another one-goal loss for the Red Wings and they’re starting to climb, which isn’t good news.

The Wings came away close again on Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche with a 2-1 win, extending their winning streak to five (0-3-2). Overall, the Wings’ last six losses have been by one goal, an insane streak that will see the Wings (10-13-4) sink no matter how much they lose – in the standings.

“You can all save yourself some time and just copy and paste the same report you had the last five games,” Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde said. “Some positive aspects, such as: E.g. the five-on-five game against such a team will ensure that they score two goals and probably have quite a few chances. We just have to do more to turn some of these games around.”

“It’s frustrating.”

Lucas Raymond scored his 10th goal late in the second period, his eighth in the last nine games, to cut the deficit to 2-1.

Colorado Avalanche center Ross Colton (20) scores against Detroit Red Wings goalkeeper Ville Husso (35) in the first period.

Raymond’s goal gave the Wings some hope. Dylan Larkin made the play, pivoted around the zone and fired a shot toward the net, where Raymond and Michael Rasmussen were battling Avs defenders in front of goaltender Alexandar Georgiev. The puck bounced into the net from Raymond at 18:13.
