The Eagles signed TE EJ Jenkins to the active roster and placed TE Dallas Goedert on injured reserve

The Eagles announced the following roster changes prior to Sunday afternoon’s matinee against the Carolina Panthers at Lincoln Financial Field.

Signed TE EJ Jenkins to the active roster

Jenkins impressed with his size (6-6, 245 pounds) and athleticism in training camp and the preseason, earning a spot on the Eagles’ practice squad. He was named by the Eagles for the first two games of the 2024 season as well as the Nov. 3 win against Jacksonville.

Jenkins was originally signed by Georgia Tech as a rookie free agent following the 2023 NFL Draft and split time between the Eagles’ practice squads and the Las Vegas Raiders during his rookie season.

Jenkins finished his college career at Georgia Tech but started at St. Francis of Pennsylvania (2017-20) and South Carolina (2021). In 46 career collegiate games, Jenkins rushed for 1,264 yards and 18 touchdowns on 69 receptions (18.3 yards per reception).

Jenkins will serve as the No. 3 tight end on the active roster behind Grant Calcaterra and CJ Uzomah, who was signed to the active roster on Wednesday.

Placed TE Dallas Goedert on injured reserve

To make room for Jenkins, the Eagles placed the team’s top tight end on injured reserve. Goedert suffered a knee injury in last Sunday’s win over the Ravens. Goedert will miss at least the next four games, meaning the earliest he could return is Week 18 for the regular season finale against the Giants.

In nine games this season, Goedert has 38 catches for 441 yards (11.6 yards per catch) and two touchdowns. A seven-year veteran, Goedert had a career game in the Week 3 win over the Saints, catching 10 passes for 170 yards, marking the most yards by an Eagles tight end since Pete Retzlaff in 1965.

Since becoming a full-time starting tight end in 2021, Goedert is fifth among all NFL tight ends in receiving yards (2,565) and fourth in yards per catch (12.3).
