The first episode of “The Day of the Jackal” airs on NBC

“The Day of the Jackal” makes its U.S. network debut as NBC airs the first episode of the Eddie Redmayne drama on December 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The series, which premiered on Peacock and Sky on November 7, received two Golden Globe nominations (for Best Drama Series and Best Actor in a Drama for Redmayne). On November 22nd, the series was renewed for a second season.

“The Day of the Jackal” is based on Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel, but adapted to today’s world. The film stars Redmayne as “The Jackal,” a famous assassin who easily slips into various disguises and aliases, and Lashana Lynch as Bianca Pullman, a secret service agent hired to capture him.

The Day of the Jackal came in at number 1 in Peacock’s top 10 TV series chart and was the biggest new series ever launched on Sky.

The series was a diversity Critic’s Pick, with TV’s chief critic Aramide Tinubu calling The Day of the Jackal a “truly gripping drama”. “Meticulously presented and beautifully detailed, the series is a breathless adventure right to the end,” Tinubu wrote in her review.

Redmayne is executive producing “The Day of the Jackal” along with writer Ronan Bennett and director Brian Kirk. Other executive producers include Gareth Neame and Nigel Marchant for Carnival Films, Sam Hoyle for Sky Studios and Sue Naegle. Author Forsyth serves as consulting producer, with Chris Hall also producing.

Rounding out the cast are Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jonjo O’Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi and Florisa Kamara.
