AND HAPPY MONDAY TO YOU. IT WILL BE A VERY ACTIVE WEEK. Weather wise. A few rounds of rain are coming. THE FIRST ARRIVES LATE TODAY AND THERE MAY BE JUST A LITTLE ICE NEAR AND NORTH OF ROUTE TWO. THE MORE EFFECTIVE ONE THAT COMES ON WEDNESDAY AND THAT WILL BE A SOAKING WET RAIN, 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN. It will be windswept as winds on Cape Cod could blow from the south-southwest in excess of 50 mph. So let’s take these one at a time. HERE COMES THE FIRST LITTLE RAY OF RAIN, JUST IN TIME FOR THE EVENING. Be aware of a bit of wintry weather the further north you go. Therefore, central and northern New England will see some snow. Maybe we’ll get some frosting to come out. TOMORROW IS BREAK, TUESDAY IS QUIET. AND THEN LOOK AT THIS ON WEDNESDAY. HERE COMES THE SECOND ROUND. AND THIS IS FULL OF TROPICAL HUMIDITY. So we get caught in the rain in the morning, which continues throughout the day. It will last until Wednesday evening before it starts here on Thursday. So that’s good news considering we’re still in a drought, with more than 80% of the state in severe to extreme drought right now. So that will help reduce our deficits that have existed here since August and September. The first round will give us a quarter to a half inch of rain and then look what we add on Wednesday. Looks like there’s another 2 or 3 inches to go. So a soaking wet system is coming on Wednesday. As we get through the day today we will be watching the moisture approach from the west. It generally comes in with slightly milder air. BUT THIS HIGH PRESSURE AREA NORTH UP HERE NEAR QUEBEC COULD HAVE JUST A LITTLE COLD NEAR AND NORTH OF ROUTE TWO. AND WITH ALTITUDE WE MAY GET A LITTLE SNOW OR ICE GLAZE. It looks like there will be up to an inch of snow, with the potential for light icing, but any amount of icing could make the roads very slippery. So keep that in mind. FOR THIS REASON THERE IS A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN PLACE THIS EVENING UNTIL EARLY MORNING. ALONG THE ROUTE, TWO CORRIDOR POINTS NORTHWARD AND ALSO INTO THE BERKSHIRES. Temperatures will rise into the mid 40s near Boston today. CLOSER TO 50 ON CAPE COD. BUT A LITTLE COLDER AS YOU LOOK TO THE NORTH. And at that altitude it could be just cold enough to be slippery. The sun will slowly set this morning and wet weather will begin in the late afternoon. IT COMES FROM THE WEST. IF YOU ARE WELL AWAY FROM 495, YOU CAN WATCH THE RAIN MOVING INTO THIS AREA AS WELL AS 3:00 THIS AFTERNOON, WITH SNOW AND A LITTLE ICE FOR THE EVENING COMMUTER HERE NEAR AND NORTH OF ROUTE TWO. Otherwise it lasts until about midnight and then subsides. So we’ll be dry tomorrow morning. BUT BE AWARE OF THE SMALL ICE NEAR AND NORTH OF ROUTE TWO. 30’S AND LOW 40’S. TONIGHT YOU CAN SEE TEMPERATURES ARE MILEST ABOVE FREEZING NEAR BOSTON. But it could be a bit slippery in the north and west. First thing tomorrow morning. And then tomorrow will be a mostly dry day, mostly cloudy skies. We’ll be in the 30s and 40s tomorrow with rain coming on Wednesday. IN THE MORNING YOU CAN SEE SHOWERS. The intensity increases around midday and then it rains in waves that last through the afternoon and into the evening. And because the ground is partially frozen, there is still so much rain. There could be road flooding or flooding with poor drainage, which is something to watch out for later on Wednesday. THEN ALL THIS WILL COME OUT AND IT WILL DRY OUT BY THE END OF THE WEEK. But look at these winds. IN THE MORNING THEY WILL RISE FROM THE SOUTHWEST AND IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING WE MAY SEE GUSTS OVER 50 mph AT THE CAPE AND ISLANDS. And this wind brings in a rush of warm air. WE WILL JUMP TO ABOUT 60 DEGREES ON WEDNESDAY AND THEN THE RAIN WILL STOP US. Temperatures will drop and it will be cool on Friday. WE’RE BACK IN THE 30’S FOR HEIGHT.
