An initial warning for 4-6 inches of snow is in effect today until 11 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for today, including the Twin Cities, until 12 p.m

Snow and blowing snow will cause significant commute delays in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, especially this morning as snow will be heaviest this morning and light snow will fall later this afternoon into the evening, tapering off to thundershowers. Light, freezing drizzle could mix with the snow later today between 3 and 8 p.m. Highs today in the upper 20s with southeast winds at 10-15 mph, northeast winds at 10-15 mph in the afternoon and north-northwest winds at 10-20 mph overnight. This will allow blowing and blowing snow in open areas. By Friday morning, low temperatures will be around 12 degrees, with wind chill values ​​of 0 to -5 degrees below.
