The Houston Texans won their second straight AFC South title. So what happens next? We have a playoff seeding scenario you should take a look at.

Texans playoff scenarios – No. 2 seed

Houston is currently No. 4 but could potentially move up to No. 2 at the end of the season.

To become No. 2, the Texans would have to:

  • Win all three remaining games
  • AND the Bills (11-3) have lost two of their last three
  • AND that Pittsburgh (10-4) loses at least once

But the Texans could also get to number 2

  • They have won two of their last three
  • AND that the Bills lose all three
  • AND the Steelers lose two of their last three

Buffalo’s schedule

Buffalo finishes this Sunday with a home game against the Patriots, a home game the following week against the Jets and then the season finale at New England. The Jets and Patriots have won a combined seven games in 2024.

Houston beat Buffalo in early October and has a head-to-head tiebreaker if both teams finish with 12-5 or 11-6 records.

Texans playoff scenarios – No. 3 seed

Getting the 3-seed, which the Steelers currently hold, isn’t quite that difficult. Houston could achieve it with:

  • Three wins
  • AND a Pittsburgh loss
  • OR two billing losses

The Texans could also be the No. 3 pick if:

  • Houston beats Baltimore
  • AND the Steelers lost all three remaining contests
  • AND the Ravens lose to the Browns
