The Isleta New Mexico Bowl begins Saturday at University Stadium

For the first time, two teams that have never played in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl will take the field Saturday afternoon.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – For the first time, two teams that have never played in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl will take the field Saturday afternoon.

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns will face the Horned Frogs of TCU in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl. It’s a game they’ve been working towards all season.

TCU is a Big 12 team, they have won five of their last six games. Louisiana is 10 and 3, they are also the first Sun Belt team to ever play in the New Mexico Bowl.

On Friday, both coaches talked about Saturday’s game.

“Everyone wants to win a conference championship, everyone wants to play in the playoffs, everyone wants to go to a bowl game and do those things. And you know, everyone starts with the same plan, but it’s about the work you’re willing to do. And this team has worked tirelessly to get us back,” Louisiana head coach Michael Desormeaux said.

“A mature football team deals with it the way we dealt with it. “Had this been an immature team, or a team that was really a selfish group or not committed to each other, I’m not sure we would have finished the season the way they did,” Sonny said Dykes, head coach at TCU.

The game begins at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at University Stadium. However, organizers recommend that you arrive early.

In 2023 there were over 30,000 people in the stands. For more ticket information click here.
