The Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars went to war in Week 16 as the Raiders looked to end their losing streak and the Jaguars sought their fourth win. The Raiders had home field advantage, but the Jaguars would get the ball first.

Although the Jaguars put together a seven-play drive and gained 22 yards, the game started with a punt, which could only bode well for the Raiders early on as they took over from the Jaguars’ three-yard line. But that meant nothing to Brock Bowers.

Quarterback Aidan O’Connell found Bowers on the Raiders’ first play of the day, gained 32 yards on the first reception and left the danger zone. Although the Raiders appeared to start strong, they also had to punt the ball away.

Both teams’ second drives resulted in punts as both teams’ defenses looked strong early in the game. the opposite applies to criminal offenses. The punt was returned by Devin Duvernay for 26 yards, and a 15-yard penalty gave the Jaguars their first score of the game. Jacksonville started its third drive in Las Vegas territory.

This prime positioning would help the Jaguars score the game’s first touchdown on a six-play, 29-yard drive as the Jaguars took a 7-0 lead with 1:32 left in the first quarter. It was time for the Raiders and O’Connell to get to work.

The Raiders moved on a 13-yard rush from O’Connell, who showed his knee was fine, and a 24-yard pass to Jakobi Meyers that got the Raiders into the red zone at the end of the first quarter , across the field.

O’Connell threw a deep pass to Tre Tucker for 29 yards, bringing the Raiders to the Jaguars’ one-yard line. Alexander Mattison scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the season, bringing the battle right back to the Jaguars. After the extra point was good, the Raiders tied the game at 7-7.

The Raiders forced the Jaguars to punt, took the lead again and O’Connell looked good early. Passes to Tucker, Meyers and Bowers still weren’t enough to get the Raiders into touchdown territory, but Daniel Carlson hit a 49-yard field goal to give the Raiders their first lead at 10-7.

The Raiders defense held off Mac Jones and the Jaguars, forcing them to score for the fourth time in the game when Ameer Abdullah returned the ball for 19 yards. Abdullah took matters into his own hands on the Raiders’ drive, leading the boys across the field into Jaguars territory.

The Raiders sent Carlson out again, and again he made another field goal attempt, this time for 37 yards. 13-7 Raiders.

Jacksonville tried to get the ball going in the ground game, but running back Tank Bigsby lost the ball and it was recovered by Las Vegas, giving the Raiders possession at the 45-yard line. However, he couldn’t do much by knocking the ball away.

The Raiders once had a chance to recover a Jaguars fumble; They did it twice. At halftime the Raiders had a 13-7 lead.

The second half started the same way the Raiders did their first drive early in the game: a punt. The Jaguars began to organize a drive until former Jaguar K’Lavon Chaisson sacked Jones to force another Jaguars punt.

Like the Jaguars, the Raiders suffered a similar fate as they had to punt the ball away again. Déjà vu for both teams from the start of the game.
