The Lions activate the former All-Pro before the Packers game

The Detroit Lions announced that they have activated safety Jamal Adams from the practice squad for their game against the Green Bay Packers Football on Thursday evenings Matchup. Adams, a three-time All-Pro, was signed by the team on Sunday after being released by the Tennessee Titans on Oct. 17. Adams played in three games for the Titans this year, including one against the Packers, before being placed on the reserve/non-football injured list and requesting his release.

Here’s the interesting part: It doesn’t look like Adams is playing it safe for the Lions. Instead, he will play linebacker, with Detroit now having four contributors on injured reserve in Alex Anzalone, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Derrick Barnes and Malcolm Rodriguez.

There is desperation at linebacker for the Lions, where David Long Jr. and Kwon Alexander — two other midseason additions — are also expected to replace 2023 first-round pick Jack Campbell. Weighing just 220 pounds, Adams was seen practicing with the linebacker group this week as the media was allowed to watch portions of an open practice.

Who will play in front of this broken linebacker unit? I’m glad you asked. Defensive linemen Aidan Hutchinson, Marcus Davenport, David Bada, Nate Lynn, John Cominsky, Mekhi Wingo and Kyle Peko are all on injured reserve. In addition, the other defensive linemen DJ Reader, Josh Paschal and Levi Onwuzurike are already out due to injuries. In total, the Lions will be without 10 defensive linemen and 4 linebackers in their first seven players, which is why Adams will be activated for a game without a position after a week of practice.

Do I need to spell out the game plan for you? Run. The. Ball.
