COLORADO SPRINGS — A local towing company received at least twice as many calls Monday because of the winter storm.

“Busy is an understatement,” said Scott Clay, tow truck driver for Bugs Towing. “The company received 50 to 60 calls.”

Clay says he sees a similar pattern: People are inattentive while driving, especially when the roads are slippery.

“The surface became very smooth very quickly,” Clay said. “I think it fooled a lot of people. Just the way the temperature rose and fell… it made everything super smooth.”

Clay says it’s not worth risking your life over speeding.

“Getting there slowly and safely…without having to call a tow truck,” Clay said.

We are used to this type of snowstorm. It doesn’t hurt to remember to slow down and give other drivers enough space.
