The Marvel Rivals trailer is an ultimate alliance of heroes

In recent years, Marvel has been at the top of its game when it comes to single-player games. With all of these heroes present, it only makes sense to use them for multiplayer, and Marvel Rivals marks the brand’s first major foray into the popular free-to-play and hero shooter spaces. All eyes have been on it since its initial reveal in March, and interest has grown given the known competition Overwatch keeps doing…whatever it’s doing.

Ahead of next week’s release, Marvel Games and NetEase have released the game’s launch trailer, offering a final look at the characters on the roster. The newbies all rock fresh, updated looks that immediately look eye-catching and cosplay-ready, and you also get an idea of how they’ll play in the actual game. For Wolverine fans, having him and Hulk on a team could mean they can perform the fastball special against an unlucky opponent, a move that unfortunately hasn’t received much attention in Marvel’s video game catalog.

story-wise, Marvel Rivals is about the merging of multiple universes following a clash between Doctor Doom and his 2099 counterpart. As various characters from these universes, players compete in 6-on-6 battles, with the main goal of defeating both Dooms before one can continue his conquest of the multiverse. If you’ve been bitten by multiverse fever, Rivals designed to meet your needs – maps also come from individual alternate realities, such as the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, Tokyo 2099 and the symbiote planet Klyntar. And just like the characters themselves, they look really damn good.

Marvel Rivals releases Friday, December 6th on PC and consoles. If the film’s song “Rivals to the End” by Against the Current frontwoman Chrissy Costanza sounds like your thing, it will be available to stream on the same day as the game’s release.
