The movie star’s sister is accused of killing her ex with “furious” fire because he rejected attempts to get back together

The sister of a Bollywood actress has been charged for allegedly setting her ex-boyfriend’s house on fire and killing him and a friend after he rejected her attempts to rekindle their romance, prosecutors say.

Aliya Fakhri, 43, of Parsons Blvd. in Queens, was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and other charges for intentionally setting a fatal fire in the detached garage of a home in Jamaica, Queens, killing her boyfriend. Edward Jacobs, 35, and Anastasia Ettienne, 33, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a news release.

Fakhri is the sister of Nargis Fakhri, a well-known actress in Indian-made Hindi films who is known in the United States for her starring role in the 2015 blockbuster “Spy.”

According to the investigation and charges, Fakhri arrived at the two-story home around 6:20 a.m. and yelled, “Today you’re all going to die,” before setting the building on fire, Katz alleges in the news release.

When Ettienne realized the building was on fire, he quickly ran down the stairs and then back up to rescue Jacobs, who was sleeping on the second floor of the garage, according to Katz.

The building burst into flames and neither Jacobs nor Ettienne were able to escape, the district attorney said.

Fakhri was arrested on November 26 and indicted by a grand jury the next day on four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and one count each of first-degree arson and one count each of second-degree arson.

If convicted of the most serious charge, she could face life in prison.

“As alleged in this indictment, this defendant intentionally ended the lives of two people by starting a fire that trapped a man and a woman in a raging inferno,” Katz said. “The victims tragically died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Our condolences go out to the families of Edward Jacobs and Anastasia Ettienne as we pursue this case.”

Jacobs, a father of three, separated from Fakhri about a year ago, his mother Janet told the New York Post. “Like any other person who gets rejected, he let them know, ‘Yo, I’m done with you.’ Get away from me,” she told the Post.

“He’s been trying to tell her to leave him alone for a year, but she hasn’t accepted the rejection,” she claimed.

Jacobs leaves behind 11-year-old twins and a 9-year-old boy, she said.

Fakhri’s mother told this New York Daily News that she didn’t believe her daughter had anything to do with the fire. “I don’t think she would kill anyone,” her mother said Daily News. “She was a person who cared about everyone.”

According to online jail records, Fakhri is being held at the Rose M. Singer Center on Rikers Island while she awaits her next court date on Dec. 9. She pleaded not guilty to the charges; A lawyer for the defendant could not immediately be reached.
