The NBA confirms that the Nuggets’ Braun did not call late against the Warriors

The officiating team was correct in not ruling that Denver’s Christian Braun had signaled a timeout when the Nuggets ran out of timeouts at the end of their 119-115 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, Last Two Minute said NBA report.

Golden State coach Steve Kerr was furious at the end of the game when he realized Braun had signaled a timeout after recovering a loose ball on the ground with 1.9 seconds to play. If Braun had called a timeout when there were no players left, it would have resulted in a technical foul, which would have given the Warriors a free throw and a possession.

Instead, the officials called a jump ball.

According to Wednesday’s Last Two Minute Report, Braun “never fully or clearly signals a timeout and therefore a timeout is not acknowledged.”

Braun said after the win that he knew the Nuggets had no more timeouts because coach Michael Malone and his staff had talked about it.

“No,” Braun said when asked if he called “timeout.” “Maybe that’s what it looked like. I fumbled the ball on the ground a bit. My hands were moving, but the referees didn’t say so.”

Kerr said it was clear to him what had happened.

“Braun took a timeout,” he said after the loss. “He jumped to the ground, he turned around. Everyone saw it except the three guys we hire for the games and that makes me angry. This is a technical foul. You’re out of time. We throw a free kick. Throw, we get the ball, we have a chance to win the game.

It was a frustrating end for the Warriors, who lost their fifth straight game by blowing a six-point lead with 2:32 left in the final. Denver trailed by 11 with 6:13 left, but closed the game on a 21-6 run.
