A new TV series that has a 94 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes has been hailed as an “absolute bombshell” as film critics compared it to an iconic ’80s film.

Disney+’s Skeleton Crew, starring Hollywood superstar Jude Law, is said to be so “phenomenal” that it’s being compared to children’s classic The Goonies.

In the new release, Jude plays a Force user named Jod Na Nawood and stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Robert Timothy Smith, Kyriana Kratter and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, who play Wim, Neel, KB and Fern.

“Skeleton Crew” follows four children as they embark on a wild adventure into the depths of the galaxy as they attempt to return home safely.

As the amateur space cadets travel through the Star Wars galaxy, they encounter strange aliens and explore dangerous places.

And after streaming on Disney’s streaming platforms for just less than a day, the first two episodes have already received rave reviews.

Disney+’s Skeleton Crew, which stars The Holiday’s Jude Law, is said to be so “phenomenal” that it’s set to launch alongside children’s classic The Goonies

Metro PR journalist Felix Caraballo raved about the first episodes, drawing the widespread comparison to The Goonies.

“The first three episodes of Skeleton Crew are a blast,” he wrote.

“The Goonies in a galaxy far, far away sets the tone, but it takes on a darker tone as the adventure becomes more exciting and dangerous.” #JudeLaw is a perfect fit for #StarWars and the chemistry between the young actors is great. I can barely wait for it!’

Future Of The Force’s Phil Roberts agreed, saying that it “effortlessly captures the spirit of the Goonies and provides an entertaining, kid-oriented Star Wars adventure.”

Critic Mark Cassidy said that he found it “very funny” and that it was “exactly what you would expect” after seeing the trailer.

He said: “Idiots in space – but the kids aren’t annoying (my biggest concern), Jude Law is a good villain and Nick Frost’s droid is hilarious.”

Nagier Chambers wrote: “Offering a fresh and exciting adventure in a galaxy far, far away, combining classic Star Wars charm with the undeniable spirit of the Goonies – a thrilling mix of camaraderie, curiosity and coming-of-age storytelling.”

The show was such a success that it scored 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and 90 percent on Popcorn Meter.

Disney announced the new live-action Star Wars series with Jude at a big fan convention two years ago.

The premiere on Disney+ took place on December 3rd with the first two episodes and will consist of eight episodes in total.

But any mention of upcoming films in the popular sci-fi franchise was conspicuously missing as the company focused on its streaming service.

A new trailer for the upcoming series was released earlier this month, which fans have described as “Star Wars meets Stranger Things.”

Lead writer Christopher also told StarWars.com that viewers don’t need to have seen the Star Wars films to enjoy them.

He said, “The great thing is you don’t have to know anything.”

The series takes place around the same time as The Mandalorian – about ten years after the events of Return of the Jedi.

We are introduced to a crew of four young characters – Wim, Fern, KB and Neel.

They make a mysterious discovery on their home planet and accidentally fly into a strange and dangerous galaxy at warp speed.

Here they meet Jod, a “Force user” played by Jude, who once played the role of young Dumbledore in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”

Skeleton Crew is now available to stream on Disney+.
