No more driving from the East Coast with beer in the trunk: Yuengling, the oldest brewery in the United States, is coming to Chicago soon.

According to a press release, the beer will be available on tap in Illinois next month, with distribution and packaging to follow.

“Fans across Illinois can experience Yuengling’s 195 years of brewing expertise, which will first be available on tap in late January, with additional distribution and packaging to follow in the following weeks,” the press release states. “With this launch, fans of legal drinking age will be able to purchase the brand’s flagship beers at their favorite restaurants, bars and stores across the state.”

Rumors of the Pennsylvania-based brewery coming to the Windy City began earlier this summer after a beer marketing newsletter announced that the brand would be coming to Illinois in early 2025 through its joint venture with Molson Coors. A representative for the brand declined to confirm the speculation at the time.

Months later, the brewery posted on social media that it was expanding, but did not specify where.

“Climbing new heights and new places – stay tuned!” The post said about a mysterious photo showing various landmarks.

Founded in Pottsville, Pennsylvania in 1829, Yuengling is the oldest active brewery in the United States. The brand is best known for its traditional lager, but also offers other beers such as Black & Tan Porter and Lord Chesterfield Ale, an American pale ale.

According to a press release, Yuengling currently distributes in 28 states. Most recently, its reach expanded to Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma in 2023.
