The Santa Maria Lights Parade is back for another year of Christmas fun

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – The holidays are here and so are the festivities! The 29th Santa Maria Light Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th at 5:20 p.m. Participants will take to Broadway in Santa Maria with their festively decorated cars, floats, marching bands and more.

The parade, hosted by the three Rotary Clubs of Santa Maria and the Rotary Club of Nipomo, is expected to draw approximately 2,500 community participants; This includes volunteers, city and law enforcement personnel, sponsors and students.

All 103 entries will compete for cash prizes totaling $4,500. First place prizes of $350 and second place prizes of $150 will be awarded in each of the following seven categories:

  1. Best use of light – commercial
  2. Best Use of Lights – Religious
  3. Optimal use of light – non-profit youth organization
  4. Optimal use of light – not suitable for minors, non-profit
  5. Optimal use of light – other
  6. Best band
  7. Best marching group
