The serious threat to the Capital Region continues to grow today, Tornado Watch released

Severe storms are possible throughout the day in the capital region. Turn on weather alerts and schedule if/when alerts are issued.

Today and tonight: Morning lows today will be in the mid 60s. Isolated, strong thunderstorms will increase around daybreak and continue throughout the day. There is a chance that these will become more severe and most of the Capital Region is under a tornado warning until 3pm today and is expected to be extended into the evening. The greatest risk of severe weather is an extended series of storms in the evening. Isolated tornadoes, isolated damaging winds and isolated hail events cannot be ruled out. Aside from the storms, it will be a warm day with highs in the upper 70s.

Next: A cold front will finally move through the state early Sunday morning, ending the threat of severe weather and bringing back dry and sunny conditions. This front will not be followed by a major drop in temperature. Another cold front will pass on Tuesday, finally bringing cooler temperatures as we begin 2025.
