Lee Jae-myung, the leader of South Korea’s opposition party, decided to climb over the parliament fence to get in and vote against the president’s request for martial law.

Jae-myung went live on YouTube and recorded himself climbing over the walls to reach parliament after the president declared a state of emergency and accused the opposition of being “anti-state forces seeking to overthrow the regime.”

In the video, the leader can be seen walking along the border wall of Parliament and climbing over a metal fence to jump to the other side. As soon as he lands, he continues running while looking into the camera.

Jae-myung lashed out at the president, calling his martial law “illegal” and declaring he is “no longer the president” of South Korea. The opposition leader called on the public to gather at the National Assembly.

“The economy of the Republic of Korea will collapse irretrievably. My fellow citizens, please come to the National Assembly,” he said.

Hours after martial law was declared, around 190 MPs managed to break into the assembly and voted unanimously in favor of a motion to block the declaration of martial law and call for it to be lifted.
