The Stranger Things star is rumored to be playing a leading role in the MCU’s X-Men reboot

The X-Men are known to be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point, but it hasn’t been officially announced when exactly the characters will appear. However, a new rumor has emerged about one of the MCU’s main characters X Men reboot, suggesting the cast is finally being assembled.

According to film actor Jeff Sneider of The InSneider: Sadie Sink is the leading candidate to play the new Jean Gray in the MCU. The report has not been addressed by Marvel Studios, Sink, or anyone directly involved at the time, but the rumor has nonetheless already caused a stir among many fans on social media. It’s unclear if Sink is actually in talks to take on the role or if she was officially offered the role. If the project is currently being cast, this will likely be the first of many casting rumors to follow considering how many major characters are part of the X-Men.

Sink is best known for her role as Max Mayfield in the hit Netflix series Stranger Thingsand she will return as the character one final time in the series’ upcoming fifth season. She also starred alongside Brendan Fraser in the acclaimed drama film The whalewhich earned her a Critics’ Choice Movie Award nomination. She was recently seen in the film A victimand she previously starred in the Fear Street Movies. Sink will also star alongside Regina Hall in the upcoming musical drama O’Dessa.

There were previously rumors of a collaboration between Sink and Marvel. In 2022, there were rumors that she was up for an unnamed role in the MCU, but Sink herself denied this was true. However, she has hinted that she would like to play a superhero in the MCU, so it is entirely possible that she is interested in the role of Jean Grey.

She was succeeded by Sophie Turner, whose career culminated in the role Dark Phoenixa film that focused heavily on the character. Recently, Jean Gray was back in the spotlight with the animated version of the character’s return in the hit Disney+ series X Men ’97. Jennifer Hale returned X-Men: The Animated Series to speak to Jean Gray again.

In the meantime it’s sinking Stranger Things Co-star Joseph Quinn will appear in the MCU when The Fantastic Four: Getting Started is coming to cinemas
