The Ted Williams Tunnel in Boston was flooded during a storm

The Ted Williams Tunnel, which carries Interstate 90 under Boston Harbor from South Boston to East Boston, was flooded during Wednesday’s storm. Video sent to NewsCenter 5 shows cars in the tunnel appearing to drive through several inches of water. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) said a pump failure and debris accumulation caused the flooding. Massachusetts state troopers diverted traffic onto roads to avoid the tunnel. Crews have responded and are working to resolve the issue and MassDOT said they expect the tunnel to be cleared before 11 p.m. Wednesday.
