Canyon de Chelly National Monument in northeastern Arizona received a plan approved by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Park Service to permanently end commercial air travel. The plan was officially signed on Thursday and will take effect in 180 days, barring any legal challenges. Accordingly, tours of the park within a radius of 800 meters are prohibited AP News.

Air travel is controlled by the Overflight Program in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Park Service

The Overflights program works with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Park Service parks to make this happen National Parks Air Tour Management Act of 2000. Both the FAA and the National Park Service are expected to develop air travel management plans for the parks.

The air travel management plans specify the following:
