SEATTLE – Road visibility will be poor amid dense fog in the Puget Sound region Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog warning for Shelton, Lacey, Olympia and Tumwater until 10 a.m

KING 5 has activated First Alert for this weather event that could impact life, property or travel in the Pacific Northwest region. During this event, the First Alert Weather Team will provide you with the latest information to keep you and your family safe.

According to the NWS, visibility is less than a quarter mile in some locations. This means driving conditions are potentially dangerous for those commuting early in the morning.

Drivers are asked to ensure they turn on their headlights, drive slower than usual and maintain a safe distance from other drivers.

The NWS also warned of patchy freezing fog, meaning there could be black ice on the roadway in some areas.

A high pressure system will persist through the first half of Wednesday. There is a chance of scattered showers on Thursday, while calm conditions are expected on Friday before widespread rain, mountain snow and gusty winds move into the region over the weekend.
