There is no winner in the Mega Millions Christmas Eve drawing as the jackpot increases to $1.15 billion

There is no winner in the Mega Millions Christmas Eve drawing as the jackpot increases to .15 billion

No winner came forward to claim the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Christmas Eve, but a handful of people will still be looking forward to a lot of green.

The jackpot gradually increased to $1.15 billion after no winner was announced following Tuesday night’s drawing. Tuesday’s winning numbers were 11, 14, 38, 45, 46 and a Mega Ball of 3 with a 3X Megaplier.

Although no one took home the jackpot, four people – from California, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Wyoming – matched five numbers, but not the Mega Ball. The Megaplier turned their $1 million prize money into $3 million Dollar.

The next drawing will take place on Friday at 11:00 p.m. ET.

“We know that many people will likely receive tickets to Friday’s drawing as Christmas gifts, and what a gift that would be to end up with a ticket worth $1.15 billion,” says Joshua Johnston , executive director of the Mega Millions consortium, said in a press release.

A winner who opts for a lump sum payment option would receive less than half that amount, although $516.1 million is sure to still fill some inventory.

The current jackpot has grown since the last winner on September 10 – a person from Texas who took home the $810 million prize.

Should someone win the next Mega Millions jackpot in the remaining two drawings of the year, it would be the largest prize ever won in December.

Some of the biggest wins in Mega Millions history have come in recent years. The biggest prize was awarded last year to a single winner from Florida, whose ticket brought in a jackpot of 1.6 billion.
