Friday, December 6th

December nights
Friday and Saturday at Balboa Park | Free
It is the City of San Diego’s largest free holiday festival in Balboa Park. Visitors can enjoy Christmas lights, festive music, attractions and food.

East Village Holiday Happy Hour
5:00 p.m. at UC San Diego Park & ​​Market| $12
Enjoy specialty drinks, festive holiday cheer and live music from the Full Strength Band.

City Lights: An immersive journey through light and sound in the Quartyard
5:30 p.m. in the Quartyard| $20
Embark on a 50-minute journey through six unique zones – featuring lasers, reactive video, LED sculpture, projection mapping and more – each inspired by a different aspect of city life.

Over-the-top vacation lounge
7:00 p.m. at Top of the Hyatt
The Over the Top Holiday Lounge brings a snowy wonderland to sunny San Diego. Enjoy a festive cocktail menu by the fireplace.

Jingle Terrace Live
5:30 p.m. at Brengle Terrace Park in Vista | Free
A free holiday event featuring light shows, photo opportunities, food and drinks.

Annual tree lighting celebration
6 p.m. at Forum Carlsbad| Free
The evening will be filled with festive activities including a live performance by The Mar Dels, holiday characters and entertainers, the arrival of Santa Claus, the official lighting of the Christmas tree, as well as a light show and magical snowfall.

Holiday festivities begin December 6th and 7th in Balboa Park. Weekend at the Park includes the reopening of the Botanical Building and Gardens, live performances, holiday shopping, food vendors and more.

Saturday December 7th

Encinitas Holiday Parade
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Coast Highway 101 | Free
Nearly 100 parade participants will roll, march and cruise along the Coast Highway. This year’s theme is “Creativity in Motion.”

OB holiday parade
5:00 p.m. at Newport Avenue | Free
The 44th Annual OB Holiday Parade will feature holiday festivities and Christmas lights for the whole family.

Little Italy tree lighting and Christmas village
4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in Piazza della Famiglia | Free
Little Italy will be decorated with 10-foot-tall nutcrackers and kinetic Christmas trees on street corners, along with caroling and more.

Wild Holidays at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park
Until January 5th
Lights, decorations, imaginative characters, musical entertainment, festive storytelling and culinary treats provide family fun and get everyone in the holiday spirit.

USS Midway Jingle Jets
Until December 23rd, 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. | USS Midway Museum | Ticket prices vary
Now in its second year, the Jingle Jets Holiday Lighting Celebration offers families the opportunity to enjoy twinkling lights, holiday music, holiday treats and more.

The neighborhood’s Christmas Village is also returning, NBC 7’s Marianne Kushi reports.

Sunday December 8th

Parade of Lights in San Diego Bay
5:30 p.m. in San Diego Bay | Free
The parade is in its 54th year and consists of approximately 80 boats decorated with Christmas decorations and spectacular lights.

SoNo Fest & Chili Cook-Off
11am-5pm at Thorn & 32nd Streets in North Park | Free
McKinley Elementary School is hosting a fundraiser where several chili competitors will showcase their dishes. Live music, crafts and indie items are also available.

Christmas parade and holiday festival in La Jolla
11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Girard Avenue & Prospect St. | Free
Families can enjoy floats, marching bands, community groups, practice teams, vintage vehicles and more. There will also be a holiday festival called “Santa’s Village” where Santa Claus will make a visit.

Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
5 p.m. at The Old Globe | $59
Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based on the classic book by Dr. Seuss. Seuss based.
