I see a lot of questions about the top three running backs being traded and comparing their new and old teams. I only know about the Giants here on the East Coast, but I can tell you their problems run much deeper than the loss of a premier running back. I can tell you that if Barkley were still with the Giants, he wouldn’t be in the top three in rushing yards.

The QB situations of the teams that left these top running backs behind (Giants, Raiders, Titans) say more about the health of their clubs than anything to do with these running backs.

Assistant coaches work insane hours trying to get the smallest advantage they can for each game. What was the last thing you heard from a coach? For example: “From the film study, we noticed that QB X never throws to his left when pressured.”

I have never heard of a coach publicly revealing any film study that gave them an advantage. There is no benefit to this other than the ego.

Have you seen the dubbed video of the Lions’ fake fumble compared to the successful love fumble against the Bears? I suspect that coaches really dig deep into the film to find potential plays.

It also explains why they played the Bears.

If you’ve been watching the top of the NFC over the last few weeks, especially Sunday, this should be a very entertaining playoff season. I have a feeling that all three wildcards could advance. Has this happened before?

In the young lifespan of the Three Wild Card era, no.

I know your beat is pro football, but what do you think of the College Football Playoff odds? 5th place Texas with a 14 lead over 4th place Arizona State, 6th place Penn State with a 10½ lead over 3rd place Boise State and 8th place Ohio State with a 2½ lead over 1st place Oregon? Only No. 2 Georgia has the advantage over No. 7 Notre Dame, and that by just 1½. What’s going on here?

Firstly, the recency bias. For another, college football has clearly over-expanded the playoffs, which most reasonable people questioned when they went from four teams to 12 without even trying eight.

I think we need different criteria for MVP. Seems like too much of a media narrative prize. Josh Allen will win, but does he deserve it? Lamar has better stats. If you say it’s not about stats, how can you make a better argument for Allen over Saquon? If you say it’s a QB award, how can you argue with Allen over Jayden Daniels? Just compare their teams to themselves last year.

I think it’s a pretty competitive race at the moment with three participants. Barkley makes a strong case for a non-QB to win. Part of the bias toward Allen might have to do with his 11 rushing TDs as a QB anomaly and the fact that Lamar already has two MVPs. I’m not saying that’s right or wrong, but it could fit into the narrative you mentioned. It’s interesting that all three top contenders face the last-place teams in their respective divisions in Week 18, so I suspect most voters will make a decision after next weekend’s games.

Good morning, Mike/Wes! Last night’s broadcast shows that 51 of 53 of the current squad were taken by Gutey. From my memory (which is usually wrong) the remaining two are Clark and Jaire, right?

Clark is the only player in the current squad who was not taken over by Gutekunst.

When was the last time the Pack had three running backs (not QBs or receivers) score a touchdown?

December 27, 2009, vs. Seattle – Ahman Green, Ryan Grant, Brandon Jackson.

Nine players carried the ball for us. Any chance this is a record?

Most for Green Bay since 1953.

What do you think Green Bay’s chances of being at the top this year are based on where they are right now?

If the Packers are still trying their best and they can get there, then I have as good a chance as anyone.

I just wanted to jump in at halftime to remind everyone that we’re not laughing. Do you hear me? This is a no cluck zone. Thank you very much and the floor is yours again.

I don’t think I did. Happy Tuesday.
