Tiger Woods and Charlie fall to Bernhard Langer’s eagle putt in sudden death of the PNC Championship

Tiger Woods and Charlie fall to Bernhard Langer’s eagle putt in sudden death of the PNC Championship

A hole-in-one by Charlie Woods and birdies on eight of the final 10 holes with his father Tiger Woods weren’t enough to win the PNC Championship on Sunday.

This honor once again goes to Bernard Langer for the second time in a row and for the fifth time in total with two sons.

Langer hit a 15-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando to join his son Jason in defending the championship and fending off a challenge from Woods and his son.

The two teams were tied through 18 holes and again through 36 holes, with both shooting 14-under 58 in the two-player scramble format. They each finished the regular season with a score of 28 under par (116), breaking the record of 27 under set by John Daly and his son John Daly II.

Both teams made 13 birdies and one eagle: Charlie Woods’ hole-in-one at Nor. 4 and Bernard Langer’s eagle putt at number 5.

Tiger, Charlie Woods has eagle chances with 18

Charlie Woods and Bernhard Langer both hit the fairway on No. 18. Tiger Woods hit his second shot 25 feet away, pin-high, and Jason Langer hit his second shot to within 15 feet of the hole.

Tiger and Charlie both missed their eagle attempts – Charlie Woods grabbed the right edge of the cup – and Jason Langer failed his eagle attempt.

That left the 67-year-old Langer, who won the PGA Tour Champions Schwab Cup earlier this fall, his 47th Champions Tour title and his 134th global victory. Langer rolled the putt into the side of the hole and threw both arms in the air.

Teams with First Coast connections compete against each other

Three teams tied for third at 23 under, two with First Coast ties and both with a PNC championship trophy in their family: Jacksonville native David Duval and his son Brady, 58; Vijay Singh of Ponte Vedra Beach and his son Qass, 62; and Padraig Harrington and his son Paddy (61).

The Duval team led the field with 14 birdies in the final round. They fucked the last six.

Duval and his stepson Nick Karavites won in 2016 and the Singhs won in 2022.

Langer won with two sons

Langer’s PNC title gives him three combined with Jason Langer, the first of 2014.

He won in 2005 and 2006 with his son Stefan.

Tiger Woods, who has won 82 PGA Tour titles and 15 major championships, has yet to win a father-son title with Charlie.
