Christopher Nolan’s last outing, Oppenheimer, was a massive blockbuster, grossing nearly a billion dollars at the box office. In recent days there has been a lot of speculation about the director’s next film. Finally, the official announcement was made on Universal Pictures’ X account.

Accordingly, Nolan’s next film is a mythical action film titled The Odyssey, and the film will be shot all over the world using brand new IMAX film technology. Earlier reports claimed that the film would star Tom Holland and Matt Damon and the same has now been confirmed. Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyongo’o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron also play important roles in “The Odyssey”.

Nolan’s film is an official adaptation of Homer’s epic Odyssey. It tells the story of the Greek hero Odysseus and his journey home after winning the Trojan War. The film is said to deal with themes such as heroism, loyalty, deception and the fight against the divine will.

The poem was previously adapted in the 1954 Italian film “Ulysses”. “The Odyssey” is Christopher Nolan’s second film for Universal and will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
