It is a first alert weather day due to the risk of strong storms from an approaching cold front. Damaging wind gusts and a few brief tornadoes are possible, with storms expected to move through the Midlands from this morning until early afternoon. Our weather will improve as the day progresses. As the front moves through, gusty winds without thunderstorms can also be expected. Gusts of up to 25-30 mph may occur by early evening.

Monday will be a quieter day as sunshine breaks through again. However, temperatures will still remain above normal in the mid to upper 60s.

Another front will emerge by Tuesday. The next rain could bring a few showers to the Midlands, but the chance is low (20-30%).

A further drop in temperature is expected behind this front by the end of the week. Highs will return to the 50s with morning lows near freezing.

Thursday: With sunny skies it will be cooler to the low and mid 50s.

Friday: Cool and sunny in the lower 50s.
