Basically, you’re dressing for the 30s on Wednesday – not to mention the wind will pick up and there could be a few drops or flakes. So the sun we have in the morning won’t shine all day.

However, keep in mind that the numbers went up yesterday but went down today. Still, it will feel more like Juneau, Alaska today as its high is only expected to be around 46.

It looks and feels like winter for the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center tonight. But our weather pattern is starting to change, so we’ll have more clouds in the mix by then.

A clipper ship system is currently racing through the Great Lakes. Tomorrow morning it will be over us and tomorrow afternoon it will be gone.

Temperatures will actually rise overnight, so precipitation will tend to be liquid in the city and south and could be more wintry in the north. The problem on Thursday will be that the snow reaches the ground as temperatures will be quite warm overnight and the freezing mark will be north. Once most of the moisture has been removed, temperatures will actually drop throughout the day as the sun shines again.

Winter weather warnings call for at least a few inches of snow in Sullivan and Ulster counties. Closer to town the accumulations will only be about an inch or two, and that’s if we’re lucky. Otherwise, wet flakes do not form, with the exception of grass areas and car roofs.

As for wind speeds, they peak at around 45-50 miles per hour during the day. However, the National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for much of the area.

It will be nice to see some of our suburbs receive the first measurable snow of the season, but this pattern appears to be short-lived as milder temperatures and precipitation in the form of rain return next week.
