TRACKING: A brief cooling off before a warmer Christmas week | forecast

Cold until Saturday, warm afterwards!

Be careful of slippery areas during your morning commute, especially in the east and north where light snow and blowing snow will result in poor visibility and partially covered roads. Drifts may occur, particularly in the south and westbound lanes.

Today: The clipper system is moving southeast, bringing with it the light snow. Eventually the winds will lighten a bit, which should help with some blowing and blowing snow, but we will see north-northwest winds today at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Even if we see a few rays of sunshine at times, we can expect more clouds than sunshine. Highs will range from the low/mid 20s north to upper 20s south. Wind chills today will be in the single digits and 10 digits.

TToight: Skies will be partly cloudy tonight, so lows could be in the single digits in places with a layer of snow. Without snow we will have lows in the low to mid teens. Areas of fog may form tonight as winds are light and shift from north to east.

Satday: We will have a mix of sun and clouds with highs of 20 to 30 degrees, with the coolest air in the north and east. Winds should be light from the southeast at 5 to 10 mph. Wind chills will be in the teens and 20s.

Sunday: Sunday will also be partly cloudy, but with southerly winds 10 to 20 mph, gusts up to 30 mph. This should help bring highs back into the mid and upper 30s.

Christmas week: We should stay dry until a chance of light rain on Thursday and Friday. Monday will be partly cloudy and Christmas Eve and Christmas will be mostly cloudy. We reach a high of 40C again on Monday, followed by a brief dip to 30C at Christmas and then back to the mid 40C for the rest of the week.
