THE GAVEL. And now it’s time for another check of our first warning weather. SOME GOOD NEWS. TEMPERATURES AND WEATHER IS MUCH MILDER TODAY. Well, the cold front has moved far to the east of us in all weathers and all storms. BUT WE set the table. WE TOLD YOU YESTERDAY THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE BAD, RIGHT NOT? AND IT WAS BAD. YES. Well, the weather is much calmer at the moment. The Superdome looks good there in the background. FIRST WDSU ALERT. Radar surveillance. NOW CLEAR. BUT LET’S GO ON AND SHOW YOU HOW MUCH RAIN THAT FELL YESTERDAY, MOST OF IT FELL IN THE EVENING. And this is our Doppler radar estimating how much rain has fallen. I like these shots. Even if there are a lot of colors visually. It looks like a finger painting project for kindergarteners. But the fact is that it gives us an idea. Who got the heaviest rain? Which parishes experienced the most weather? 3.5 inches in PICAYUNE, SLIDELL absorbs almost 10 cm of rain. Today in the New Orleans metropolitan area it was about 2.5 inches in most locations, maybe even a little less. METAIRIE AS WE CONTINUE TO GO SOUTH, BEAUTIFUL GRAND ISLE AS THERE IS ABOUT 2.5 INCHES OF GOLDEN MEADOW, WITH OVER THREE INCHES OF RAIN. Let’s not talk about rain. LET’S TALK ABOUT BEAUTIFUL WEATHER, CLEAR SKIES AND LOTS OF SUNSHINE. 60 DEGREES. OUR CURRENT TEMPERATURE AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. NORTH NORTHWEST WIND AT TEN. Our dew point temperature has dropped, but not dramatically. All the weather is behind it. We see clear skies and high pressure bringing us a northwesterly wind. TODAY. It won’t be a strong northerly wind bringing in so much cold air. YES, IT WILL BE COOLER BUT COMFORTABLE. TODAY’S HIGH TEMPERATURES SHOULD BE IN THE UPPER 60S AFTER 70 DEGREES. Maybe a few high, thin clouds later in the afternoon. I think it will be foggy overnight tonight. I looked first thing in the morning to see how it would turn out. Here we are around 6 a.m., temperatures are still close to 50 degrees, although maybe 40 degrees on the north coast, upper 40s. FOG CAN BE A LITTLE PROBLEMATIC. First thing in the morning, just before sunrise. Be sure to check out WDSU from 430am. WE ALWAYS CHECK THESE VISIBILITIES FOR YOU. Of course, when driving on the dam you should always be aware of possible fog. HIGH TEMPERATURE TOMORROW AFTERNOON. Check out these mostly sunny skies, with temperatures reaching into the mid-70s. Here comes our last cold front of the year, as it arrives on the last day of the year and will likely pass through late morning. BEHIND THE FRONT, the sky clears and it gets a little cooler. We will start to see some more northerly winds. And I think at the start of the new year a jacket is a very good idea because temperatures will drop to over 50°C and they should be dry and cool just before midnight. NO CHANCE FOR RAIN WITH THIS FRONT. NO significant rain NOW, but I think it will be cooler, especially at one, two or three in the morning if you actually stay up that late. MOSTLY SUNNY, COOLER AND COMFORTABLE. HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE UPPER 60s. TONIGHT THE FOG RETURNS FOR US. CLOSE TO 50 DEGREES ON THE NORTH COAST. LOW 50’s ELSEWHERE. IT WILL BE WARMER TOMORROW AFTERNOON. That’s why right there. SOUTHERLY WIND ABOUT 5 TO 10 FIRM, Once we get rid of the fog it will be mostly sunny. THEN the cold front moves through early in the day. TUESDAY. AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES. OKAY, IT WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY COOLER FOR US ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY, BUT NO COLD. The average high this time of year is 63 and will be 61 on Wednesday and 61 on Thursday, back to the mid-6s

After over 3 inches of rain with strong thunderstorms and severe weather Saturday night, Sunday will be a significantly less eventful weather day. We’ll start with some patchy fog, but that should clear quickly, and even though the cold front moved through last night, our temperatures will be cooler, but not necessarily colder. High temperatures today are expected to be in the high 60s, the sky will be mostly sunny and it will be very pleasant. Fog will form again for us overnight and will be locally dense in some areas Monday morning, but temperatures will rise back into the 70s Sunday afternoon. A New Year’s Day cold front should move through early in the day, but it will be a dry front. It will bring some cool air, the high temperature on Tuesday will be in the low 70s, and the New Year’s Eve temperature at midnight should be in the low to mid 50s. The cool air will intensify towards the end of the week, so high temperatures on Thursday will likely only be near 60 degrees in some places.
