Trevor Lawrence suffers a horrific injury after a vicious punch from the Texas defender

As if this season couldn’t get any worse for the Jacksonville Jaguars, their franchise quarterback suffered a horrific injury from a dirty hit by Houston Texans defenseman Azeez Al-Shaair. Lawrence received a massive contract extension before the regular season and was one of the few bright spots for the Jags this season.

Lawrence and Jacksonville have almost no chance of making the playoffs. This shouldn’t be a surprise considering they play in the same division as the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans. Houston owns the south, but Al-Shair’s attack should earn him a fine. Lawrence was already on his way to the ground, and Al-Shair plunged into him, helmet first.

With Lawrence out for the time being, former first-round pick Mac Jones will take over the QB position.

Al-Shair was ejected for the hit and Jaguars fans threw trash at him on his way off the field.

Twitter doctors have unfortunately jumped into the fray, posting what they say is wrong with Lawrence, including alleged “fencing stance” that would paint a much more negative picture than your average concussion.

We won’t pretend to know exactly how bad Lawrence’s head injury is until we hear from the team.

Lawrence was immediately ruled out of the game and will likely be taken to a nearby hospital for further diagnosis. The hit itself would earn Al-Shair a fine and more. Given that the Jaguars season is all but over, don’t be surprised if Lawrence doesn’t see the field again in 2024-25. There is little reason to push him back at this point as it would be irresponsible for Doug Pederson and Co.

Lawrence is a franchise quarterback for a reason, but Sunday’s injury could be quite a setback for the 25-year-old. Our thoughts are with his family.
