Trisha Paytas makes her “SNL” debut with a surprise appearance

YouTuber Trisha Paytas used to be a controversial figure on the internet, but she’s been making big changes lately and some of her dreams are coming true. A life long Evil Fan, she attended the film’s premiere in Los Angeles and has now lived out one of her biggest fantasies: appearing on Saturday Night Live.

Last night’s episode, hosted by Gladiator II Star Paul Mescal caused a surprise with Paytas SNL Debuts in a skit that makes fun of Mescal’s idiosyncratic taste in music. The scene shows a group of friends discussing their end-of-year Spotify Wrapped tips. Mescal shocks his friends by naming an unknown man, Satoshi Gutman, as his favorite artist. Mescal’s character describes Gutman, played by Bowen Yang, as an “anti-instrumentalist sound guru from Dundalk, Maryland.” and says he spent 170,000 minutes listening to him.

The friends look confused, so Mescal shows them a clip from his podcast “Awakenings,” which features Paytas as an “iconic guest.” Paytas and Gutman then appear in the friends’ living room, because as she explains, “Me and my King Satoshi were walking in the area.” She greets the friends and addresses them as “bastards,” and they agree that for the best “Bacy” is celibacy. The group then ends the skit by dancing to Gutman’s top hit, which includes the line: “I was normal, but then you made me celibate.”

At the end of the show, Mescal praised Paytas for his performance in the episode.
