Trump tries out a new hairstyle – and gets mixed reviews

Donald Trump appears to have unveiled a new look – and the reviews it’s receiving on social media are less than enthusiastic.

Trump’s signature hairstyle – golden, pinned up and tightly coiffed – was an iconic part of his brand long before he entered the political stage.

But a new video of the president-elect circulating on social media appears to show him taking a completely different approach. In a clip posted by one of Trump’s supporters at his Palm Beach golf club, his mane appears to be more compact and cropped shorter on the sides than at his last press conference.

It’s not clear whether the change is due to a new cut, an alternative styling routine, or compression from Trump’s signature red MAGA hat.

Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment on the president-elect’s new look.

In any case, social media users wasted no time in commenting on the alleged style change.

User @Bricktop_NAFO compared the look to that of Buzz McCallister, the tarantula-owning older brother, from the ’90s flick Home alone.

“Trump cut his hair and now he looks like an angry grandpa at a country club,” noted @keatonmerrell. “He also seems to use the orange sparingly.”

While most of the comments were mocking, at least one X user was impressed by Trump’s performance. “Looking good, Mr. President!!!” wrote @nikhilgawde72.

It’s not the first time speculation has arisen about whether Trump has moved away from his standard hairstyle. In 2019, he appeared with his hair slicked back and straightened to a somber service honoring the victims of a mass shooting.

However, his signature fluffy mane soon returned.
