Two title fights mark the UFC’s return to Sydney

No. 6 pound-for-pound fighter du Plessis (22-2, fighting from Pretoria, South Africa) appears to remain undefeated since moving into the promotion with his ninth straight win. In just four years he has beaten the three former champions and achieved six placings, proving him to be one of the most exciting athletes on the roster. Now he wants to show that his first win over Strickland wasn’t a one-time thing.

Strickland (29-6 in Las Vegas, Nevada) is seeking revenge in the third title fight of his career. He is one of the best pressure style fighters on the roster and showed that last June when he defeated Paulo Costa via split decision at UFC 302. Since their first fight was hard fought and Strickland has been in the win column since then, this rematch will be a fireworks display.

Weili (25-3, fights out of Handan, China) is aiming for her second title defense in 2024. At 9-2 in the Octagon, the 35-year-old has been Rose Namajunas nearly perfect outside of her two encounters during her UFC career. She has defeated players such as Yan Xiaonan, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Carla Esparza; By defeating Suarez, she will add another great contender to her resume.

For Suarez (11-0, fighting from Azusa, California), it is certainly the biggest opportunity of her career and she certainly deserves this position. With an overall record of 11-0 and wins over Jessica Andrade, Esparza and Alexa Grasso, the 33-year-old is an expert when the fight hits the canvas, making her match with Weili a fascinating clash of two fast-paced styles.

With these two title fights, UFC 312 promises non-stop action Down Under.
