Tyler Warren breaks Penn State football’s all-time tight end touchdowns record

(WHTM) – Tyler Warren broke the Penn State football record for most touchdowns in a career by a tight end.

Warren’s 17 career touchdowns surpassed Pat Freiermuth’s 16 touchdowns and Mike Gesicki’s 15 scores. Both Freiermuth and Gesicki are in the NFL and are considered two of the best tight ends to ever play for Penn State.

Warren’s record catch came on Senior Day against Maryland. He has more than 1,500 receiving yards for Penn State this year, also the most by a Penn State tight end, and the Big Ten receiving record.

“No weaknesses, (he) does a little bit of everything,” said Warren’s Jake Butt, Big Ten Network analyst and former Michigan tight end.

Last week it was announced that Warren was a finalist for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the best tight end in college football. Warren, who has already been named a Paul Hornung Award finalist, a William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist and a Walter Camp Player of the Year semifinalist, was named the Associated Press (1st Team) and CBS Sports (1st Team). Named Midseason All-American. , Pro Football Focus (1st), The Athletic (1st) and the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
