Type of drinking found by health experts to be more dangerous than binge drinking

Researchers have identified a form of drinking that is even more harmful to health than excessive alcohol consumption.

That’s no secret alcohol is not good for our health, but many people enjoy it Tip or two to relax and unwind.

Binge drinking is particularly bad when people consume a large amount of alcohol in a short period of time. However, experts believe there is an even worse form of drinking, which is particularly common during celebrations such as drinking alcohol Christmas and birthdays.

According to a reportpublished in the National Library of MedicineHigh-intensity drinking is “common among certain types of binge drinkers and is often associated with special occasions, including holidays, sporting events, and especially 21st birthdays.”

The report’s authors say high-intensity drinking is “at least twice the typical binge drinking threshold.” They say depending on gender, this would mean women would have to consume more than eight drinks, while men would have to consume more than ten.

And experts say it’s harmful to our health.

Drinking so intensely over a short period of time can increase the blood alcohol concentration to over 0.2 percent. According to George Koob, director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, this “significantly increases the risk of injury, overdose and death.”

In addition to affecting the drinker, heavy drinking can affect romantic relationships and friendships and even cause life-changing events such as physical assaults or accidents.
