Ullmark records shutout as up-and-coming Senators defeat Kraken

Shane Pinto kept the game scoreless with 8:02 left in the second period, and Noah Gregor scored the Senators’ final lead a few minutes later.

Tim Stutzle made it a three-goal game at 4:18 of the third period when he narrowly outpaced Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord for his 11th goal of the season and first since Nov. 30.

Daccord finished the night with 24 saves.

It was the fifth time this season that the Kraken were eliminated.

Senators: Ottawa’s offense has been on a hot streak of late, scoring three or more goals in every game of their current four-game winning streak, taking the team from a sub-.500 record to 16-13-2 on the season.

Kraken: Home ice hasn’t produced much success for the Kraken lately, as they have lost five of their last six home games since November 27th.

Stutzle’s goal in the third period put the game out of reach for the Kraken, who simply couldn’t find an attack on Tuesday. A two-goal comeback might have been possible, but a three-goal deficit meant a Senators victory was all but assured.

Ullmark recorded his third shutout of the season and did not allow more than one goal in five of his last six games.

Senators: Visit the Calgary Flames on Thursday.

Kraken: Open a four-game road schedule Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
