It will rain on and off throughout the week. Acadiana will be hit by multiple rounds of storms, with rainfall totals in the heaviest areas estimated to be between 5 and 7 inches or more over the next seven days.

It should be noted that due to the nature of the moisture extracted from the subtropical Pacific Current, these totals are sometimes underestimated and some areas may actually experience higher totals. We will get a more detailed picture of this in the next few days.

A few light showers could creep into the area this evening, but most of the wet weather will continue into the overnight hours.

Showers and a few thunderstorms will occur early Thursday morning before the sun rises, but most are expected to ease by sunrise.

Clouds will persist on Thursday and temperatures will drop throughout the day, setting the stage for a cool, gray Friday.

The general pattern looks a little more choppy over the weekend and into next week.
