USC QB Miller Moss expects to “look” at Michigan in the transfer portal.

USC QB Miller Moss expects to “look” at Michigan in the transfer portal.

With Michigan’s regular season coming to an end on Saturday, the Wolverines have a chance to get a head start on building their 2025 roster. Several positions need to be upgraded, including quarterback, although five-star Bryce Underwood will be added to the 2025 recruiting class.

On Monday, many players announced their intention to enter the transfer portal – which officially opens next Monday – including USC quarterback Miller Moss. On3’s Pete Nakos also revealed Monday that Michigan is among the few schools Moss is expected to look at, along with Iowa, Auburn and Louisville.

The need for a quarterback in the transfer portal makes sense for Michigan. While Underwood is likely talented enough to start right away, adding a veteran to the quarterback room would be Michigan’s responsibility, both in terms of the team’s prospects in 2025 and Underwood’s development.

However, the Wolverines could face stiff competition for Moss as the other teams he is expected to look at are in desperate need of a quarterback upgrade this offseason.

Moss was productive for the Trojans this year, starting in nine games and throwing for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Despite the solid numbers, Moss was replaced late in the season in favor of Jayden Maiava. However, Moss was still much more productive than Michigan’s combination of Davis Warren, Alex Orji and Jack Tuttle.

Michigan got a good look at Moss earlier this year in its 27-24 win over USC. In that game, Moss completed 28 of 51 passes for 283 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. His offensive line didn’t do him much good in the game as he was constantly pressured by Michigan’s elite defensive front and was sacked four times in the contest.
