UW MBB adds French forward Dominique Diomande to 2024-25 roster

SEATTLE – Head men’s basketball coach at Washington Danny Sprinkles has announced the addition of French international Dominique Diomande to the 2024-25 UW squad.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dom to our Husky basketball family and the University of Washington,” said head coach Danny Sprinkles. “He worked very hard to meet international and academic entry requirements.”

The 6-7 winger/forward was projected as a top-50 pick in the NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com and was named one of 11 “Under the Radar Freshmen with NBA Potential” by NBADraftRoom.com.

According to EuroBasket, Diomande played 26 games for ADA Blois of the France-ProA U21 league during the 2023-24 season, averaging 16.0 points per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field. Diomande also averaged 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

In addition, Diomande appeared in 14 games for the Blois senior team, which plays in the Betclic Élite, France’s top league.

Diomande is originally from Ivory Coast and competed internationally for the African nation. In five games at the 2021 FIBA ​​U16 Africa Championship, Diomande averaged 21.2 points and 12.0 rebounds per game.

Diomande also played in three games for the Ivory Coast senior national team during the 2023 FIBA ​​World Cup qualification.

UW is riding off the momentum from Wednesday’s 89-73 win over Washington State to play another in-state opponent at Seattle U on Monday against the Redhawks at Alaska Airlines Arena at 7 p.m. PT.
