Victor Wembanyama scored 30 points and tied a career high with 10 blocked shots as the San Antonio Spurs cruised to a 114-94 win over the struggling Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday.

The Spurs turned a close game into a decisive win with a 13-2 run late in the second quarter that helped them build a 16-point halftime lead.

San Antonio extended the lead to 18 by the end of the third quarter and was ahead 93-69 when Wembanyama hit two free throws before being sent to the bench with 10:12 to play.

San Antonio has won two straight games and four of its last five games.

Charles Bassey scored a career-high 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Spurs. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson each added 11 points and Jeremy Sochan had 10.

Shaedon Sharpe scored 25 points for the Trail Blazers, who have lost seven of their last eight contests. Anfernee Simon added 18 points, Deandre Ayton collected 14 points and eight rebounds and Scott Henderson scored 12 points off the bench.

The Spurs led for most of the first quarter and were eight points ahead after a Sochan layup at 3:28 before settling for a 25-20 lead at the end of the period.

Portland tied the game early in the second quarter, only trailing 41-39 when Ayton had a dunk with 4:10 left.

The Spurs then put some distance back with a 13-2 run capped by a 3-pointer from Chris Paul with 1:32 left before halftime. The hosts extended their lead to 60:44 at halftime after Wembanyama’s three-pointer with 1.7 seconds left.

Wembanyama’s 11 points put Spurs ahead in the first half. San Antonio outscored the Trail Blazers by 50 percent to 36.7 percent in the first two quarters.

Sharpe led all scorers with 16 points before halftime, but was the only Trail Blazer with more than six points.

San Antonio never let Portland get closer than a dozen points in the third quarter. The Spurs extended their lead to as many as 19 points four times in the period before a Simons free throw with 3.5 seconds left cut the deficit to 87-69 heading into the final quarter.
