Video appears to show drone flight in Brooklyn neighborhood: “People aren’t crazy”

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Less than a day after a drone reportedly shut down an airport in New York, PIX11 News obtained exclusive video of a drone flying in Brooklyn Saturday evening.

The video sent to us by a viewer shows what looks like a drone with red and green lights buzzing around.

Drone attack paralyzes New York airport

The drone was spotted near an apartment in Bedstuy, Brooklyn at 8 p.m.

“The drone was visible from my apartment window for about a minute. I actually heard it first, which drew my attention to the sky. It has a quiet buzzing sound, similar to a helicopter, but not as annoying or loud. His flight pattern was, in my view, a bit like a hook pattern. It turns “left” and then flies closer to my apartment before leaving my field of vision. I was extremely skeptical about the recent drone sightings and thought that many of the videos simply looked like airplanes. I thought, “Wow, maybe all these people aren’t completely crazy after all!”

In New York City, a permit is required for an unmanned aircraft to take off or land, and operators must be FAA certified.

PIX11 News contacted the NYPD to find out if other Brooklyn residents had complained or seen a drone in their neighborhood. Police did not immediately comment.
