In a move that has stunned fans and colleagues alike, actor Vikrant Massey has announced his decision to retire from acting.
Known for his acclaimed performances in “12th Fail,” “The Sabarmati Report” and “Sector 36,” the 37-year-old actor shared the news in an emotional Instagram post on Monday morning.
Early Monday morning, Vikrant, who will be seen in ‘Zero Se Restart’, surprised everyone when he released a statement saying that he plans to retire from acting after 2025. His note read: “Hello, the last few years and beyond.” I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But the further I move forward, the more I realize it’s time to return home as a husband, father and son actor.”
He said that he will be seen on the big screen for the last time in 2025. He wrote: “So in 2025 we would meet for the last time. Until the time comes. The last two films and many years of memories. Thanks again. For anything and everything in between. Forever in debt.”

According to reports, Vikrant is currently busy with ‘Yaar Jigri’ and ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’.
The announcement also affects his The Sabarmati Report co-star Raashii Khanna surprising. The actress, who was in the city with the actor to promote the film, also expressed shock over his sudden decision. Addressing the comments, she wrote: “What? No!”
Other industry colleagues including Dia Mirza and Esha Gupta expressed warm responses. Dia encouraged him, saying, “Breaks are best – you’ll be even more amazing on the other side.”
Esha Gupta, on the other hand, sent her love through heart emojis and simply added ‘Vikrant’.
While many fans expressed their support and wished him well for his future, others speculated about the reasons behind his decision. Some suspected it could be a marketing strategy for an upcoming film, while others questioned whether it was due to political pressure.
One fan wrote: “Most likely a marketing method for an upcoming project to get people curious to see the movie in theaters. He will change the statement later. Relax.”
Another commented: “I just hope it’s not because of political pressure.”
Before the release of his film, the actor revealed that he had received certain threats. While many initially assumed that these were threats against his life, the actor later denied the rumors and said that he had not received any “death threats.”
The announcement comes at a high point in Vikrant’s career. His most recent film, The Sabarmati Report, was widely praised and his contributions to Indian cinema are celebrated for their depth and diversity.

Vikrant recently spoke about his approach to his craft at the closing ceremony of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). “I always try to work responsibly. Be it 12th Fail, Sector 36 or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while being a part of responsible cinema,” he said.
Vikrant emphasized his interest in creating films that are both entertaining and inspiring, highlighting the influential role of cinema. “Cinema remains a very influential medium. Many in society are inspired by it. In India, we produce around 1,800 to 2,000 films every year across all genres. Although all types of films should be made, responsible cinema is thriving and audiences appreciate it,” he added.
It remains to be seen whether this is truly a farewell or just a pause in an illustrious career.
