Vlad Goldin and Danny Wolf help Michigan basketball to big win over No. 11 Wisconsin

The Wolverines made an opening statement in coach Dusty May’s Big Ten debut.

Powered by a combined 44 points from Vlad Goldin and Danny Wolf, Michigan handed No. 11 Wisconsin its first loss of the season (67-64) at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Goldin had 24 points, scoring the go-ahead goal with 1:34 left, and Wolf added 20 points for Michigan (7-1), extending its winning streak to six games and defeating second-ranked opponents in a row.

After a rocky first half, Michigan’s two-man game against Wolf and Goldin gave Wisconsin fits in the second half. During a back-and-forth sequence, Wolf found Goldin on a pick-and-roll play for a dunk before Wolf answered a Wisconsin 3-pointer with one of his own.

On consecutive offensive possessions, Wolf connected with Goldin down the court on another pair of baskets. The first time, Wolf drove deep and threw a pass to Goldin for a short hook throw. On the next play, he threw a pass to a rolling Goldin for an open dunk, giving Michigan a 44-41 lead with 14:26 to play.
