The following is a press release from Iowa State Athletics Communications:

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women’s basketball senior Kenzie Hare will miss the remainder of the season, Iowa State announced Wednesday evening. Hare has been dealing with a lingering hip injury and, after exhausting conservative treatment options, has elected to redshirt this season for medical reasons.

“Kenzie made an incredible impression from day one!” said head coach Bill Fennelly. “I’m disappointed in her and our team, but this is what’s best for Kenzie. I know she will come back better than ever and have a big impact on our team.”

“Due to an ongoing hip injury, we have decided that it is best for me and the team to redshirt this year,” Hare said. “I look forward to supporting my teammates for the remainder of this season and my next two seasons as a Cyclone!”

Hare, a junior from Bartlett, Illinois, appeared in all 10 games for the Cyclones, making eight starts. She averaged 8.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, making her Iowa State’s third-leading scorer.

No. 18 Iowa State meets No. 21 Iowa in Iowa City for the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game. Kick-off is at 8:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1.
